In a surprising move, Wayne Wood, the Chief Integrity Officer cum Racing Advisor of the Royal Western India Turf Club (RWITC), resigned earlier this week.Wood,who had earlier resigned towards the end of the Mumbai season, had resumed his duties just last month at the turf club after being recalled by the committee.

    Wood in his resignation letter sent to the committee has cited that he has quit his post only on personal grounds but according to informed sources the Aussie professional’s reasons for his quitting his job abruptly are different.

    It is reliably learnt that Wood had submitted a proposal to the stewards’ body towards the end of Pune season seeking additional powers for himself and the team of stipendiary stewards working under him. The stewards, it is learnt, had agreed to give the stipendiary stewards powers to fine professionals up to Rs 50,000 from the earlier Rs 5,000 limit, however, they shot down Wood’s proposal to allow the stipes the right to hand out suspensions to guilty professionals.

    Irked by the stewards’ decision, Wood, who was to return to Mumbai after a short holiday in Australia, decided not to continue his service with RWITC and submitted his resignation letter.

Race 8: THE NANOLI STUD PUNE DERBY (GR.1)
1) Amazing Desire, : Interesting choice of jockey obviously malesh thinks he has a chance but distance looks out of Radar.
2) An Acquired Taste, : A very good animal well prepared and has the most experienced jockey in the set should be the one to beat.
3) Angel Crown,: A Genuine stayer can run all day obvious pace maker but if Sandesh who is a very good judge of front running pace run a fast pace race he will pick up his second Derby.
4) Commander, : Improving with every run and will stay and improve further is a danger to all but I feel the race has come a bit too early for him.
5) Okavango,: Another improved animal that should stay well a likely pacemaker but lacks the class.
6) Shivalik Hero,: Impressive winner first up but no track work since win which is strange its possible he has been given slow work to keep him fresh keep in mind in his last run he beat Blue ace who did not stay the trip and was then beaten my commander by 8 lengths so I have my doubts on him.
7) Supreme Minstrel, : Very impressive winner in his last run the extra distance will make him even stronger and if there is a Upset here he is the one.
8) Tintinnabulation,: Impressive horse interesting move by the trainer to bring him here tracking well and looks ready for a classic win they all have to beat him provided he can handle the pune track.

Race 1: VB race over 12flg is best to leave or follow the best stayer in the set and that is Apache Indian, who has won this distance twice and Fifth Gear, does have a good handicap and should be there to trouble the first named.

Race 3: Wide open race with many horses in with a fair chance if intent is there and keeping in mind none of them are outstanding an upset is likely.Horses 2-4-8-9 are my short listed 4 Scaramouche, and Divine Inspiration, look well prepared the second named is running first time and is hard to say.The choice of rider on Intequam, suggest intent which gives him a fair chance. Gararo, is a unsound horse and running after a year but his track work suggest he is a good horse and if right can upset.

Race 6: Another open race Montezuma, is very well bred and tracing well too first run over a mile indicates the confidence of the trainer is pitted against some average horses and should do well but being first run its hard to say.Home Advantage, and Que Sera Sera, have some form and experience but have disappointing so far Seminyak, is the joker in the pack and can surprise them all.

Race 7: A Very open race horses 1-2-4-5-8-9-11-12 all have a fair chance if the intent is there.My shortlisted 4 are 4-5-11-12.The connections of Oriental Sapphire, have opted to run her in a higher class which will work for her as she does not seem to carry weight and will give them a run for the money. Roesti, and Light My Way, are both genuine milers and are ready to strike.Winds Of Fortune, finished on well last time and is running in a handicap race for the first time but intent is unknown from this inconsistent stable.
