Bangalore Derby day 15 jul 2012

After Saturdays performance am not even sure If I should post today. On Paper Today's card looks a favorite card however when ever it looks that way it seems to go the other way watch the trend and decide.

Race 1: A fighting race to start the day horses 1-2-3-4-7-8-9 all have a fair chance to win. Loyal King, ran a very good race last time without being extended finished 3l behind V Best and in front of Carducci.At  this handicap he is definitely the one to beat. Make not of Spark Of Diablo, looks well prepared and ready to strike should place at decent odds.

Race 2: An Acquired Taste, looks very well prepared and should justify however Supreme, will keep him honest.Towers Of Hanoi, should have won last time keeping in mind clever trick won again he can place but the jockey gives no confidence.Somethingdifferent, is a dark horse here should place by default and can upset if the intent is there.

Race 3: Very open race and Jockey skills should prevail.Horses 2-4-5-7 look the main contenders.

Race 4) Manyatta, is a good horse but its strange why the connections have opted to run him here when he could have run in race 5 at the decent handicap maybe he just want a win.Quick Enough, who ran a brave second to E Summit who went on to win two races is placed very well on the handicap and if C rajender can give him a fair run he will be hard to beat.


Tips; 10) Quick Enough,

Race 5: Very interesting race and all 7 horses have a fair chance to win. The manner in which Turf Lightning, beat Vijays Pride, in their first encounter suggest she will beat him again as she wont be ridden in the same manner she was run in the fillies stakes. Deja Vu, has a big heart but in this field weight will tell. Charlemagne, was a very impressive winner last time but beat no one with this classy set should extend the best.Equine Lover, was a very impressive winner first up and placed on a good handicap has a good speed and can stay however with some very speedy horses she will have to be her best to mantain the pace.Wind Of Soul, was backed with confidence in her first run will be pacing with the best today and should be in the fray too. Maths Baby, in my opinion is a vastly improved animal ran a good race in the colt stakes finishing 5 lengths behind the winner after getting in a lot of traffic like coming off the pace and is the one to beat.

Race 6: This a wide open race and luck and jockey talent will decide the outcome.My shortlisted 5 are 2-4-13-15-16.

Race 7: THE KINGFISHER DERBY BANGALORE (GR.1)

 1) Borsalino, ran good race first up, track work suggest he has improved a lot, I think he will stay the 10 flg but drawn 1 will need a lot of luck too one of the main contenders who should run a good race if all goes well.

4)Hachiko, lot of speculation on his stamina i think should get the trip has the best jockey to guide his fortunes and will have no excuses after the race should run a good race but winning wont be easy.

5) Machiavellianism, : Was given a fantastic ride by his rider last time and everything went in is favor will be carrying a big burden on the shoulders and will have to reproduce that same timing if he wants to repeat.

7) Shivalik Hero,: Unlucky at the post just lost to the former and will be in the firing line again should get the trip and if Luck is on there side can give malesh his first Classic.

8) Silver Birch,:  I do think very highly of this horse Ran a very good race in the colts trial stakes made a good pace and was beaten in the last 30 meters. the wide draw today will help him settle back and if Zervan can keep his cool he can Upset here, unless the connections have a different plan for him and will sacrifice him as a pace maker. 

9) Southern Opinion, : Looks like he has lost interest in racing but if in a galloping mood he can beat them all, look unlikely the he is going show some interest.

10) Super Storm,: Probably Lacks class but will stay better then others.

11) Tintinnabulation,: In my opinion the better of the two from the stable, will stay has not been extended yet after being gelded and is the horse they all have to beat.

12) Maple Star,: Another moody horse but with a big heart, I am not too sure of his staying capability.

13) Portia, : Improving with every run but staying the trip is a ?? possibly a sacrificial Lamb for the Owner-mate.

Looks a Open race and may the best horse win.

Race 8: Celebrity, ran a easy 6th 7 lengths behind M Star after a break of 7 months, Now looks fit and ready to fight it out with the always improving Eastern Summit,

Race 9: Veyron, and Esteban, should fight it out jockey skill will prevail.

A very Open and tough card however it is Likely the World Cup will be Shared by the Narredu Family i.e The Bowling, Batting and Fielding Trophy's. Trainer B Prithviraj also has some good runners. Paddu-Sandesh Combo is also good to Follow as all horses represent Value.


Race 1: Looking at the field its looks like only 1-4-9 are contenders. Athletic Star, has run amongst some good animals and should Prevail par mishap.


Tips: 4) Athletic Star, 


Race 2: Youngsters but should be limited to a few horses.2-5-6-8-9 should dominate the finish. The well bred Haute Ecole, was not that impressive in his mock race and does not appeal based on that.Street Of Fire, is running first up but tracking well.La Jawaab, had a forward run and has a positive change in jockey and equipment should run a better race.Mzima, is tracking very well but distance looks sharp however company is weak hence can prevail but will have to beat Igah Igah Igah, who has had 2 easy runs this season and looks well placed in this set.

Race 3: A Gamble race my short listed 4 are 1-2-5-9. Royal Admiral, looks better then Abarth, but is a Gamble horse so best to decide in the ring. Sayyonee, has been consistent this season and if intent is right should prevail.Make note of Sound, don't worry about the jockey is sound is the horse that can beat them all his last Spurt was very good and I have a gut feeling he will be tried today. Represents Good Value and is definitely worth a EW punt.

Race 4: Open race, On paper No Doubt, has a very good chance but with an inside draw and 15 horses I am not comfortable with this jockey who seems to struggle when drawn on the inside in a big field, if he can handle it the horse should win.Lad Star, has also done very well and the jockey knows how to win when the right money is on the horse should be the one to beat. Loveatfirstsight, has lost her way but the jockey gives her that edge and if she is in the galloping mood the race is over, I am not a big fan of Un Genuine horses but if you like her just be cautious or halve your bets.Mountain Glory, is the joker in the pack ran a good race first up, Intent is unknown however as per his last spurt he can upset if tried should place at good odds.

Race 5: At this handicap Active Grey, can only lose on Jockey merit. Raphire, should place on default.

Race 6: This is a very interesting race with some very well bred animals in the fray. Amitayus,Saltoftheearth, and Unforgettable, have run some good races but still maidens and should be in the money however horses 3-4-6-8 are the ones that can show much improvement after their respective runs. Caesars Star, is my follow horse is very well bred his Sire Sir Percy won the Epsom derby and with the sysyematic preparation and the last in mind I  think he is the horse they all have to beat.Shivalik Power, had a easy run first up and should run a good race too. Excellent Design, is also well bred and is the joker in the pack was moving very well despite no assistance from the Jockey due to a saddle slip and if the right intent is shown he can Upset.

Race 7: This race will have a interesting finish Hills And Stars, is tracking well and race ready now had a easy run first up but should get the better of Volterra, who lost thanks to the rider last time but since has had very light work suggest something is wrong. There can be a upset here due to the uncertainty of the above two. Midtown Magic, and Forever Glory, the second named is live danger to one and all well rested well prepared and can Upset note her.

Race 8: One of the toughest races of the day and any horse can win as there seem to be at least 10 horses with a fair chance and best to avoid such races or look for a value eachway or place bet.Horses 8-9-13-14 represent Value.Connections of Red Bishop,  have opted to run him in a higher class after a failed coup says a lot he is now tracking well and should be right there. North Cape,  is the Joker in the Pack and if intended can make it a start to finish affair note for a Major upset.

Race 9: Another Open race and anybody can win, Best to look for Value eachway bets. Horses 5 and 8 represent Value. Chronicle, has the right Jockey and will run a Good race, Decorated, is running amongst his peers for the first time this season and has the right Jockey too has a advantage over the first named because of the Jockey and should be in the thick of things.

Hope's, Plan's, Execution, Glory and Blame were In The Spotlight for Torolco to have a Smashing result.

Our Hopes: There was a lot of Hope before the race by all race goers will the Wonder Filly win like a queen again or will Smashing get the better of her and most of us were of that view that it would be one or the other. The way in which ITS won in her previous starts has won all our hearts and the way Smashing has found one better in her always gave us Hope that she turns the table.If the race was run with that view in mind the outcome would be different but then there was the Human element "The Plan".

The Plan: As in most races everyone had a plan and it was simple how can we beat ITS. As most of us know she is a free striding horse and doesn't like being challenged, The Pesi Clan had 4 runners 3 potential pacemaker and Smashing. After watching the race a few times it was evident there were no Pacemakers as we all thought as if Celo Ray, Speerhead and Cammora who are mainly front runners made a fast pace it would help ITS settle well and if she did no one had a chance. So plan B was not to make the pace but pace with her and it was a very well Executed Plan.on the other hand Toroloco and Ridgeway's plan was simple settle them early and do your best in the straight.

The Execution: If you watch the race from the word go make a note at the 200 mtr mark, Cammora dint get off to a good start so PS Chauhan on C Rey rushed his horse to be alongside ITS, at about the 350 mark when Cammora came alongside PS eased out and let cammora make the pace alongside ITS. at that point Zervan astride Cammora could have easily hit the front but chose to pace alongside the favourite. at the first bend it was clear ITS dint like being challenged and tried to run Cammora of the track this is when she blew her bolt and tore away from the field if you watch the race closely S Zervan was only interested to run alongside ITS till the 900mtr marker till the horse gave up and his job was done. Pesi as we all know is a very shrewd trainer who not only knows what his horses like or dislike but also keeps an eye on the opposition his only problem here is he thought like most of us that ITS was the only danger to Smashing but in all the glory forgot about the (mad Bull) ToroLoco to have the final Glory.

The Glory: The fast pace set by ITS worked to perfection for Smashing who ran a great race but Toroloco out stayed the former. It was a great race with a great finish ITS was Green and lost because she was not race ready and the Plan to wreck her rythm worked but not for the ones who wanted the Glory.

The Blame: We have to blame someone or it would be a perfect world.Backers of ITS are blaming the trainer and Jockey for blowing up the horse, Backers of Smashing are blaming the jockey for making his move too early but if you watch the final 600 mtr you will see Suraj made his move earlier at about the 400mtr mark and Trevor made his move at about the 300mtr mark the problem was they dint have Toroloco in mind they were certain if they get ITS they will win but as they say there is no certainty in horse racing Pesi should have known better.

Moral of the Story: What is good for the Goose is Good for the Gander.

I have uploaded a copy of the Race please take the time to view it several times and understand how the race was run, what the intent was and how did it affect the outcome. Thing will be different next time as now we have 3 Champions.There will be new conspiracy theories when all 3 meet but as far ITS is concerned she is a Champion, Good horses win Good races but Champions know how to win them. Unless her trainer turns her into another Becket.

Will be a tough day for punters best to look for value eachway bets or enjoy the day.

Race 1: On Paper Sussex Downs, should win here but negative change in equipment makes you wonder hence best to halve your bets.Horses 1-4-5-6-8 have merit to run good races if intent is there hence best to decide at race time. Keep in mind all runners are rated between 28-23 and all belong to gamble connections hence will be mostly running to go down in rating.Mountain Train, is one horse that is tracking well can place if intent is visible.

Race 2: Jockey skills will decide the outcome of the race and all 5 horses if given a fair chance can win here.Mountain Of Joy, looks very well prepared for this race and should be the one to beat.It will be foolish to ignore Arabian Gold, who has the previous of beating the former on two occasions and is still better in terms of handicap the jockey is the problem but he will be right there.

Race 3: A very open race and expect a good finish here.1-2-3-5-6-7-8-11 all have a fair chance to win here. Angel Crown, needs more distance but looks well prepared choice of jockey is understandable a its a gambling connection however she will be right there.From the first timers both Little Maestro, and Tic Tac Toe, are tracking very well and a winning debut cant be ruled out the first named has had a few injury's in the past month hence a worry. Velvetine, had a easy run first up now looks very fit and should be right there. This race is best to watch and enjoy or look for a value eachway bet.

Race 4: Gamble race but many horses are likely to be tried here hence its best to avoid the race or look for value bets. Diamond Flame, was not ridden on merit last run if money comes her way today she will be in the thick of things.Final Countdown, has been worked on well and had a good run first up will improve at lot and should run well. Serengeti, is the horse to note here has run in terms races so far last run was impresive without being extended last spurt is very good and today running in VB positive change of jockey and equipment suggest intent she is the horse that have to beat watch the market trend and decide as belongs to gamble connection. If there is a upset here Gol Matol, is the likely one but I wont hold my breath.

Race 5: Based on the Mumbai run Snow Angel, should win however with no record of a single track its confusing, If money comes his way or if his odds don't drift alarmingly he will win.So Super, clearly dint stay the trip last run should run a better race today. Starscream, may find this trip a bit sharp however if the pace is fas she can upset.

Race 6: In The Spotlight, should win par mishap however with 4 Mallya horses in the fray clearly to wreck her chances it will turn out to be a very interesting how the race is run. Pace will be very fast to spoil the favourites rhythm Camorra, and Cielo Rey, are probably the ones who do it and if i am right it will only suit Spearhead, who loves these conditions and if for some reason the favorite loses he will cause an upset.

Race 7:This will be a very interesting race Klipspringer, was a very impressive winner last time however was never put under pressure and won hands and heals. Today will some very speedy and inform animals she will be pressured that will affect her chances as she doesnot like being whipped and pressured as she kicks back and swishes her tail when pressured,Horses 1-4-5-6-8 and  Nessie, who is in good from has good speed and will pressure her which will be her down fall and it is very likely with such a fast run race horses who come of the pace will be will suited and upset the applecart.Sweet Surrender,Capote, and Wild Nexus, are the horses that run well when coming of the pace and should be the ones to look out for. The first named is down in class and should be a threat to all.

A very tough card today and will pay to go slow and look for value eachway bets. S John has some interesting mounts today and they do represent Value.

Race 1: Gamble race, I am fairly confident there will be one on Benedict, today and If I am right Sharat Kumar will open his account. If he is not tried then the race is wide open.A Dancetoremember, is the dark horse here can place at good odds if the intent is there.

Race 2: There is a lot of hype on Shivalik Star, who is bred very well and tracking good however first run and the distance is a bit sharp here.Horses 2-7-10-11 have merit and can beat the former.Mr Carpe, was looking good last time till he decided duck which is a bad habit and its best to see if he runs a genuine race today.Rich Celebration, and Pack Ur Bags, are both consistent animals with good speed should be right there.Cheque Discounter, is horse to note here, well bred has a lot of speed and tracking well too. His last two spurts suggest he can do it is well worth a flutter should place easily and can win dont Ignore.

Race 4:Bad Race Bebo, won well last time but has this habit of swishing her tail and kicking back when under pressure hence avoided.Dancing Emeralds, has a good jockey but the trainer has been a let down this season since his horses are well backed and his current poor strike rate makes you wonder however the horse has a good chance on jockey merit.Aspect Of Love, and Champagne On Ice, are both winners this season and intent is a ??Make note of Scenic Blast, Positive change of Jockey and equipment suggest intent has had some good runs and is ready to strike should finish in the fray and will place by default can upset.

Race 5: Pure Elation, will improve from her last run and is the one to beat.Accurate, and the speedy Cape Ferrat, are the danger horses the last named has the speed to cause an upset here.

Race 6: A Very Open race.Lady Mandy, won very well last time but a gamble horse so intent is unknown.Ratham, and Alderson, have been impressive winners first up and will improve Amazon Bay, has run second best twice cam across some good horses today is running amongst her peers and will run a good race.Viva Diva, and Silver Spur, have had easy runs and tracking well the first named is the one to note here should run well today and look the one to beat. dont ignore Rising Sun, for minor combinations or jackpot can spring a surprise.

Race 7: Open race horses 1-2-3-4-8-12 have a fair chance. Foswell, and Star Of Desire, have been consistent and should be the ones to beat.

My shortlisted 4 are horses 3-9-10-11 however the race is wide open. Will Still, is ready to strike,Thejaguar, was not ridden on merit last time however after the rest and a good jockey will run a good race today. Sutton Prince, ran a bit green last time and was not ridden on merit the jockey today and the last spurt suggest intent will be right there.I was very impressed with the run of Affirmator, last time and am confident that he will be the one horse that can upset here.

After a disappointing day yesterday today does not look promising. The first 4 races are avoidable.



Race 1: Gamble race and no point guessing. 2-4-5-9 can win if tried best to decide at race time. Watch the market on Raja's Pet, who is ready for a gamble in this set. Best to leave the race


Race 2: Dangerous race if you want to pick horses 5-6-7 as the jockeys aboard are the Narredu cousins so i would stay away. Spaniard, however has beaten O Assert in the past and still on same terms today should be the one to beat as he is tracking very well. Best to leave the race.


Tips: 8) Spaniard, 


Race 3: Diamonite, is running in a much weaker set today and should win with the right intent however I have no faith in this connection and considering the fact that Forest Spirit, the horse that can beat the former on handicap belongs to another inconsistent connection makes it harder.Real Steel, who made a impressive debut has had his fair share of problems of the track so his fitness is a ??  Best to avoid the race.


Race 4:Another race worth a Skip. Petite Fleur, is very well bred but first run so difficult to say however she will be a speedy horse and will be the one to catch. Horses 2-3-4-6-9 are all in with a chance as they are tracking well its difficult to know any intent but make note of The Scientist, belonging to I GOTALA who has a point to prove that Jockey's don't make a difference its the horse and this horse is tracking very well. My Law, is subject to an inquiry so best to avoid,Will Star, has a lot of experience in this set but is a gamble horse so hard to say,Boudicca, is running first up and tracking well can upset. Best to leave the race.

Race 5: Eastern Summit, and Sun Divine,  are both improving with every run the first named is a filly and is in rousing form looks the better of the 2. However it is fair to say that Violent Storm, is no pushover and will be there and can upset.

Race 6: Deja Vu, looks very well prepared here and should be hard to toss and give I Sait a well deserved winner.Gold Glamour, if in a galloping mood can Upset.

Race 7: Open race but horses 1-2-6-9 should dominate the finish Sunday Cruz, is tracking very well along with Mitraya, who is running for the first time this season, Free Law, ran a good race first up and Cinnamon Rush, who finish an unextended 5th in that race are the contenders. the last name is a very good Galloper and if he is in the mood he will be the one to beat.
